Communication is a very basic and fundamental process for human beings. However, when a brand wants to communicate with its customers, then communication takes another form. Now you have got the importance of communication, But there are various types of communication skills.

Types of communication:-

  1. Verbal Communication:- Verbal or oral communication uses spoken words to communicate a message. When most people think of verbal communication, they think of speaking, but listening is an equally important skill for this type of communication to be successful. Verbal communication is applicable to a wide range of situations, ranging from informal office discussions to public speeches made to thousands of people. Improving your verbal communication skills can help you to foster better relationships with your coworkers and maintain a large network of contacts that you can call on when necessary.   2. Non-Verbal Communication:- Non-verbal communication includes body language, gestures, facial expressions, and even posture. Non-verbal communication sets the tone of a conversation, and can seriously undermine the message contained in your words if you are not careful to control it. For example, slouching and shrinking back in your chair during a business meeting can make you seem under-confident, which may lead people to doubt the strength of your verbal contributions. In contrast, leaning over an employee’s desk and invading his or her personal space can turn a friendly chat into an aggressive confrontation that leaves the employee feeling victimized and undervalued.
  3. Written Communication:- Written communication between humans began at least 5,000 years ago. This is proven by artifacts found during excavations at sites of the ancient Indus Valley civilization, stone tablets found in Mesopotamia, writings on animal skins in China and hieroglyphics of Egypt. In the modern era, written communication occurs by writing letters, notes, memos, and notices. Ancient humans used pigeons to send letters to distant places. The postal system further boosted written communications by making possible people send letters to foreign countries. Books, newspapers are also formed of written communication since they give us knowledge or entertainment. Excellent written communication skills are vital for every work. They allow you to communicate within the office or with external entities. Written communication is an integral part of any business. Even a receipt or invoice issued by a store can be considered as written communication: It provides information about what you bought and how much money it cost.
  4. Business Communication Skills:- Communication is important in all aspects of the business from management down through the chain of command. Proper training in business communication can play an integral role in improving company morale, higher production, increased sales, and improved customer satisfaction.
  5. Graphic Communication:- Graphic communications is a very important skill for professionals including doctors and engineers, logistics experts and designers. It involves communicating with people using pictures and graphic designs. Look around your home or office and you will find several examples of graphic communications. A great example of graphic communications is the red colored board with a graphic of a skull and bones. This indicates danger. Similarly, boxes of electronics carry graphics that warn logistics provides about how to handle the item such as maximum temperature it can be stored at the numberer of boxes that can be stacked safely and the side that should be kept upwards.
  6. Sign Language:- Throughout centuries, civilizations around the world felt the need to communicate with the deaf and people suffering from hearing problems. Additionally, educational institutes hire sign language professionals to ensure those with hearing impediments have equal access and opportunities to learn. Sign language interpretation is a very lucrative profession worldwide.
  7. Visual:- Visual communication is the act of using photographs, art, drawings, sketches, charts, and graphs to convey information. Visuals are often used as an aid during presentations to provide helpful context alongside written and/or verbal communication. Because people have different learning styles, visual communication might be more helpful for some to consume ideas and information.
